Why Companies Choose Us

Scalent offers an architecture that is high performance and data-protective, an open systems approach to support heterogeneous data centers, and is the only company to do ensure that network connectivity and storage access move with the servers , freeing customers from the challenges of server-movement-associated fabric reconfiguration. Specifically, Scalent offers...

Best Performance / Least Risk
Critical to the Scalent architecture is its position outside of the data path - and its ability to work with physical as well as virtual machines.

Being outside of the data path means that the data flowing to and from your systems doesn't pass through Scalent software - so there's no overhead or risk added to your architecture.

Being outside of the data path means that even if Scalent failed, your systems would continue operating normally - and you would never experience data corruption.

Additionally, Scalent has the ability to work with physical machines and virtual machines (such as those from VMware, Xen, and Microsoft). The result is that you can seamlessly scale your servers, from using only a fraction of a physical machine via virtual partitioning, to deployment onto multiple physical machines for raw performance.

Open, Broad Systems Support
Scalent recognizes that data centers are a heterogeneous mix of systems, including real and virtual machines, Solaris / Linux / Windows operating systems, x86 and SPARC chipsets, and a range of hardware from various server, networking, and switch vendors.

Scalent provides the widest range of support, working with all of the above permutations, as well as providing additional APIs for integration into your existing management architecture. No proprietary hardware or operating systems are involved; Scalent doesn't interfere with your current approach.

Solving the network connectivity and storage access reconfiguration barrier
Servers' heaviest shackles are often imposed by their network and storage connections. Traditional approaches to server repurposing (including hypervisor-based server virtualization) require extensive manual reconfiguration if a server is moved to run on a different physical machine with different connectivity - reconfiguration up to and including physically removing network cards from the machines. Similarly, conventional VLAN management software can be too limiting.

Scalent is the only vendor to solve these problems, working with industry standard HBA cards Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage connectivity so that connections can be dis-associated from physical linkages, regardless of physical or virtual networking parameters. Ability to boot from SAN or NAS becomes straighforward, as your server maintains the same addressing and connectivity even as you move it around.
